Charity pop-up shop supported by singer KT Tunstall

Are you a jewellery and music lover? The Guitarwrist is opening a new pop-up shop today at Soho supported by singer KT Tunstall.

Jewellery made from guitar strings

The jeweller is a non-profit organisation that makes bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings from used guitar strings and plectrums donated by different artists. KT Tunstall -among other musicians like Duran, Duran, The Cribs, Stereophonics- has donated her own to support the cause.

She told the media that the project is a

"real beacon of light in a world full of disposable products and feeling helpless when faced with our bigger, global problems".

Money for a good cause

What's great about this organisation, is not only the recycling of materials that would go to waste, but also 90% of the money raised at the end of the day goes to a charity chosen by the artist.

"They [strings] something that musicians usually just throw away and turn it into really meaningful and cool keepsakes, whilst at the same time helping all of us contribute towards great charities," said Tunstall.

Founder of guitarwrist, Ian Rendall is excited about the response they had so far: "We've been overwhelmed by the response to our initiative and we know the fans are going to love the products. When we had the idea for the Guitarwrist, it was always our intention to grow the project in as many directions as possible, helping us to optimise the fund raising possibilities."

British-made designs

The designs are all hand made in the UK by Emma Hedley, who started her adventure with jewellery back in 2003. Hedley is a successful British entrepreneur with a positive ethos and outlook on life which is encapsulated in each of her designs. She is the perfect match for the guitarwrist project, as she looks to redesign sentimental items to give them a new lease of life.

In this line, at the pop-up shop each buyer will take a letter of authentication, together with where the strings were used by the donating musician.

For all those music and jewelry lovers, curious or charity souls, you sure don't want to miss this pop-up, ideal for Christmas gifts.

Address: 2 Newburgh street, Soho. Open until 5th of January.
